Disclosure Scotland Fees – Update and Next Steps
We’ve now had an excellent discussion with Disclosure Scotland (DS) on the fee waiver and discounts consultation (provided by Scottish Ministers) and the issues it raises for volunteering.

Disclosure Scotland Fees – Your feedback required
We would like to inform you that as part of Disclosure Scotland’s efforts to implement the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 by April 2025, they are reviewing their fee waivers, discounts, and registration fees.

Disclosure Scotland Update – Your duty to refer
Important update for VSDS signatories. We wanted to speak to you directly about a crucial legal duty placed upon you and your organisation by the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 – your ‘duty to refer.’

Disclosure Scotland Code of Practice Survey
Disclosure Scotland are looking for your feedback in this new survey on the Code of Practice. Deadline to complete is Sunday 31st December 2023.

Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020- Important Update
Disclosure Scotland are continuing to work on the implementation of the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 and Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services have been heavily involved in discussions as the full implementation date moves ever closer.

Fee waiver for PVG’s for new roles in Childcare Profession
The Scottish Government is providing the childcare profession with cost of living support, by covering the cost of PVG checks for anyone starting a new childcare role from 1 August 2023 – 31 March 2024.

Your ‘Duty to Refer’
Organisation have a legal duty to report harmful behaviour towards vulnerable individuals by staff/volunteers to Disclosure Scotland. Find out more about your Duty to Refer here.

E-Certificates – understanding the new process
On 1st December 2022, email certificates were introduced. Here’s how the process has changed.

VSDS Compliance Update
There has recently been a change to the conviction information that is shown on higher level disclosure certificates. This change has taken place from 19 December 2022 and will affect conviction information shown on Standard and Enhanced Disclosures and also PVG scheme disclosures. These changes do not apply to Basic Disclosure Checks.
