Local Organisations Gather to Pledge Support for National Volunteer Charter

Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise, in collaboration with local organisations, partners and members of the Stirling’s Alive with Volunteering (SAVW) Steering Group, gathered this week, on 5th December, International Volunteer Day, to pledge their collective support for the National Volunteer Charter.

The Volunteer Charter, produced by Volunteer Scotland, sets out the ten key principles which help to underpin good relations within a volunteering environment. The charter supports the foundations for a positive volunteer experience and gives individuals, groups and organisations the opportunity to express their support for the spirit of volunteering while upholding the principles of volunteer practice.

"We are excited to stand alongside our partners in affirming our commitment to the Volunteer Charter on International Volunteer Day. This collective effort demonstrates our shared values and aspirations for creating a positive and inclusive volunteering experience for all involved.”

On the day representatives from local volunteer involving organisations such as the Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Recovery Scotland, Stirling Community Media and Home-Start Stirling all came together to sign the charter.

“I'm delighted that so many volunteer involving organisations in the Stirling area have pledged their support for the Volunteer Charter today. It is so important, particularly in the current financial climate, that organisations provide meaningful and appropriate volunteering experiences. Our thanks go to SVE for promoting the Volunteer Charter and coordinating this opportunity.”

SVE, Volunteer Scotland and the SAWV Group Members extend an invitation to any individual, group or organisation from any sector who either involve volunteers, or influence decisions on how volunteering is resourced or reflected in policy, to sign up to the Volunteer Charter.

If your organisation is interested in signing up to the charter you can do so here.
