Bridging the Participation Gap Roundtable Report
Between November 2025 and March 2026, Volunteer Scotland hosted a series of 9 roundtable events on the theme of ‘Bridging the Participation Gap’, engaging with 180 stakeholders including volunteers, the practice community (such as volunteer involving organisations and their volunteer managers) and enablers (policymakers and funders).
Presented in Section 1 of this report are the seven cross-cutting themes which emerged from the series, alongside supporting evidence and calls to action, activities and recommendations for different stakeholders. Volunteer Scotland’s response to these themes, which builds on our work to date, is outlined in Section 2 across our five core programmes: The Knowledge Gateway; Participation Development and Membership; Events, Promotions and Campaigns; Research and Policy; and Disclosure Services.
Volunteer Scotland is delighted with the engaged and thoughtful participation from all individuals that attended the series, and will be informing our upcoming work from the findings from this report.
