Volunteer Story - May
May is one of our Chaplaincy Team Volunteers in the Glasgow hospice. Our Chaplains provide pastoral and spiritual care to our patients and their loved ones.
Mary joined us in January 2022, and has been enjoying being part of the team supporting our patients on the ward:
“It has been a real privilege to be a volunteer chaplain at Marie Curie. The staff team have been so supportive, inclusive and in truth have welcomed me as a valued member of their team. To be honest, I didn’t really expect that kind of empathetic support and endorsement."

“It has also been a humbling privilege to get to know so many patients and their families, to spend valuable time with them at such challenging times in their lives, remains an honour I refuse to take for granted. To journey with patients through the challenges of ill health, life transition and the last days of life is so worthwhile and immeasurable. I’m so grateful for the time I have been here and the opportunities this has afforded my understanding of all that individuals face in dealing with a life changing diagnosis.”
