Volunteer Story - Jocelyn

Jocelyn has been playing the hospice piano in Edinburgh since 2019 and was formerly a teacher at a school in Edinburgh.

When the pandemic hit and we had to ask our volunteers not to attend the hospices, she asked if there was anything else she would be able to do while unable to carry out her role. Once our shops were able to reopen, she came to help us in the Morningside and Trinity shops. She has been a massive help to both shops, particularly as many of our retail volunteers had stood down, or felt they were unable to come back as we reopened in late 2020.

Jocelyn is now back playing our hospice piano for our patients and visitors. Her music is really appreciated by patients and visitors, as well as the hospice staff, as having the piano played creates a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

Last year, Jocelyn received a Special Recognition Award for Charity Shop Volunteers at the Inspiring Volunteer Awards Ceremony.
