      Have you thought about volunteering, but never taken the first step? Are you interested in contributing to a therapeutic garden that promotes health? Would you like to learn about gardening, but don’t know where to start?

      Come along to one of our taster sessions – chat to our volunteers, see the garden and get your hands dirty! The sessions are relaxed and enjoyable - you can work at your own pace and learn new skills depending on your interests. No experience is necessary – just an interest in the outdoors / gardening / wildlife. Refreshments will be provided at the end of each session.

    • Friends of Holmhills Wood Community Park

      Friends of Holmhills Park are holding an informal meetup at the Community Park in Cambuslang on Sunday 3 June starting at 2pm at the Westcoats Road Park entrance, and South Lanarkshire Council Ranger Service will be co-hosting. We welcome anyone with an interest in the Community Park to join our volunteers to learn more about this special place and find out how you could help Friends of Holmhills care and improve the place for both local people and wildlife.

      The event will involve a walk, chat, refreshments and there will be a range of optional activities on offer to suit all ages and interests. You may join in with litter picking, removing invasive plants, have a go at a nature spotting sheet or assist with a wildlife survey. We also have some colourful signs (made by Rutherglen High School pupils) and bird boxes (made by Handy Folk) waiting to be installed. Why not come along and find out more? No experience is neccessary - just a care for your Park. Come to the meeting point at 2pm or look out for us (with our blue wagon) around the Park up until around 4pm.

      Fairhill - Volunteer Recognition and Celebration

      Community Links (South Lanarkshire) are teaming up with thousands of charities and voluntary organisations across Scotland in a celebration of the vital contribution made by volunteers.

      This year the theme is ‘Volunteering for All,’ which organisers hope will provide organisations with an opportunity to highlight that volunteering is for everyone.

      From 1-7 June 2018, Volunteers’ Week Scotland will see a huge range of events take place in communities all over the country, from small awards ceremonies to large celebratory gatherings.

      A ‘Volunteer Recognition and Celebration’ event have been arranged by Community Links in Fairhill/Hillhouse. The purpose of the event is to highlight the incredible hard work and dedication from local people who regularly give up their own time to help support local community projects. There is also an opportunity to find out more about the voluntary opportunities available in the area.

      Join us on 4th June 2018 between 11am-3pm at Fairhill Community Café, Trinity Parish Church for a whole range of fun activities: Prize Bingo; Swap shop; Volunteer celebrations; Volunteer information drop-in.

      The Fairhill Community Group will also be hosting their AGM @ 2pm which will give everyone in Fairhill an opportunity to find out about the group’s significant achievements over the last 12 months.

    • Reachout With Arts In Mind

      'Volunteering is for everyone.’ Open event for anyone interested in Volunteering at Reachout

      Reachout is an expressive arts, self-help charity that supports people experiencing mental ill health and learning disability to improve their confidence, aspirations, motivation and reduce social isolation.
      We run various workshops within our studio in Alloa. These have previously included Painting, Stained Glass, Willow Weaving and many more.
      We are always looking for creative minded people who would like to volunteer in the studio, support our members, and maybe even run small craft workshops.
      We welcome anyone who might be interested in volunteering with us to come along to the studio on Tuesday 5th June 11am-3pm.

      Loch Lomond & Trossachs Work Party – The Cobbler

      Join The Mountains and The People project on a day of practical conservation work in the Arrochar Alps. This full day activity will see a group of volunteers undertake maintenance works on one of the most popular walking routes in Scotland’s first National Park.

      This work is essential to ensure the paths remain in good condition and damage to the surrounding fragile mountain habitats is minimised. Attendees should be physically fit and up for getting their hands dirty.

We also want to celebrate the amazing word our volunteers contribute as part of Volunteers’ Week 2018.

    • Celebrating Volunteers in Renfrewshire 2018

      Volunteers' Week, the Renfrewshire Volunteer Manager Forum are organising a BIG celebration event in Renfrewshire's Lagoon Arena to celebrate volunteers young and old.

      As 2018 is the Year of Young People there will be a particular emphasis on celebrating Young People, 12 of whom will receive special recognition awards for outstanding volunteering. Many other young people will receive Saltire Awards, most of whom will be volunteering at the event itself. There will be entertainment, fun and people will have a very enjoyable two hours.

      There will be entertainment plus lots of celebrations.
      We are very grateful for STV for providing us with funding  to help these celebrations and make the event a success.
