The findings reveal a volunteer base that is deeply committed, highly skilled and motivated by strong values.
Key insights at a glance:
- 87% of volunteers are satisfied with their role, with the youngest and oldest volunteers the most positive.
- 68% started volunteering to improve things or help people.
- Over half (53%) hold leadership roles such as committee member or trustee.
- 46% have been in their current role for more than five years, showing deep long‑term commitment.
- Yet stress, time pressures and changing circumstances are key reasons some consider stepping back.
