Chivas Brothers, Corporate Team Days

1 June 2018

The work undertaken by teams from companies makes such a difference to our services.

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone involved for all your hard work, donations and continued support. It is certainly valued and appreciated by everyone at Quarriers.

Quarriers welcomed over 120 employee volunteers from Chivas who kick started National Volunteers Week in June 2017 by undertaking garden and decoration makeovers in Quarriers Village. The volunteers broke into teams and undertook a range of garden and decorating makeovers for nine of our services.

The tasks included constructing raised flower beds, staining fencing and garden furniture, building a rick BBQ, painting and wall-papering. The teams worked well together using their skills to complete all the tasks in one day.

Everyone at the services was delighted by their volunteers’ hard work. This is what they had to say.

"Everything was well organised. There was a problem with our power washer, and one of the volunteers drove home and brought in his own machine which was really great of him. There was a good atmosphere among the volunteers which led to a great day. A huge thank you from everyone at Countryview. We are delighted with our raised flower beds and our monoblock cleaned and resanded."

- Sandra Semple, Project Manager at Quarriers Countryview Service

"The volunteers were great fun to have at Ashgrove and were very hard-working. They all seemed to have a great time painting away. “All of the volunteers spent quite some time with the residents and they chatted away to all the people we support and were very positive and upbeat all day. “They completed the lounge and dining room as well as staining garden furniture. The day went very well and a huge thank you to everyone who made it possible."

- John McGartland, Team Leader at Quarriers Ashgrove Service.

"Well organised. They all did a wonderful job and we are very pleased with the workmanship. They were so well organised – the leader of the team challenge brought in extra people at the beginning of the day to get a head start on the painting because rain had been forecast. They had even brought gazebos to cover the tables and chairs while they painted. “We really appreciate all they have done. Thanks form everyone at Rivendell – the fence and garden furniture are looking great!"

-Helen Stewart, Project Manager at Quarriers Rivendell Service

Elaine Watt, CNC Team Lead at Chivas Brothers’ Paisley site, said “We’re really proud to be volunteering with Quarriers. The charity does so much to support children and adults, and the more we can do to improve their surroundings, the better. I hope that the gardening and decorating work creates a fun space for residents to enjoy. I’m really glad Chivas Brothers hosts Responsib’ALL Day as it gives us the opportunity to make a real difference in our community.
