Getting Started

This section covers all the things you need in order to get volunteers started with your organisation.

Volunteers who have a positive experience getting started with an organisation are going to feel part of your team and confident in their roles. Are there roles descriptions for volunteers?  Although don’t let role descriptions stop you being open to offers from volunteers of other ways that they could contribute!  You can co-develop roles with volunteers.  How will you promote your opportunities and what methods will you use to ensure the right volunteer has the right role?  You will need to plan your recruitment process and involve relevant staff.  And finally, how will you induct new volunteers to ensure they feel ready to start?

  • Advertising your opportunities

Our philosophy is to promote volunteering opportunities as widely as possible.

Volunteer Scotland do not directly manage or advertise opportunities on behalf of organisations and are not responsible for the content of advertisements. The opportunities displayed in our opportunity search have been created and published either by local Volunteer Centres or by the organisations themselves.
