Evening Receptionist

When We Need You

From 17/10/2018

About Opportunity

The evening reception volunteer will help make our evening counselling service at Clydebank run smoothly. They will be responsible to Maryanne Richford, Assistant Services Manager, with support from the wider DACA team. We’re looking for a Volunteer Receptionist to help make our evening counselling service at Clydebank run smoothly. You’ll mainly be responsible for greeting visitors and making them feel welcome and at ease as soon as they walk over our threshold. This will include making teas and coffees for them. You’ll also answer the telephone and keep some very basic records. DACA clients are sometimes vulnerable and anxious – so we’re looking for someone who is compassionate and non-judgemental, with a friendly and warm personality. If you have come through some lived experience of alcohol addiction that would be helpful, but it’s not essential. This isn’t a non-stop, hectic role. You’d be joining a small team comprised of two or three counsellors. At the most, we have around six people visiting during a three-hour evening shift, and we don’t get a huge number of phone calls in the evening either. So you’ll have time to read, study, knit – or whatever you like to do to pass the time. We only ask that, when clients arrive, you give them your full attention and make them understand that they are valued and important.
