About Solas Festival
Solas Festival - Scotland’s midsummer festival - has been running since 2009. The all-age, weekend-long celebration of music and the arts is designed to entertain, inspire and challenge.
Our programme makes space for challenging debate with activists, writers and thinkers from across the political, cultural and religious spectrum. The festival offers a broad, inclusive, creative and entertaining programme for festival-goers of all ages in a safe environment; everyone is welcome.
Enthusiasm, reliability, patience, cooperation and flexibility – no previous festival or event experience is necessary, although there are more challenging roles available for more experienced volunteers.
Volunteers should expect to give a minimum of 12 hours of their time over the festival weekend. This normally means one four hour shift per day and leaves you with lots of time to enjoy the festival. Volunteers should ideally be able to arrive by 3pm on Friday, but there is some flexibility around this. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, and over 18 years old for certain roles.
We also ask that all volunteers bring a cup for tea and coffee and a bottle for water!
The key teams for the festival weekend are: stewarding, festival reception, box office, venue management, access and additional support and hospitality.
We are also offering set up/take down volunteering roles – which would involve arriving a day earlier and leaving a day later from the festival, but leave the weekend free for you to enjoy yourself.
