Our Services
We facilitate access to disclosure checks for qualifying organisations within the voluntary sector, enabling them to avoid recruiting unsuitable people to work with Children and Protected Adults as defined under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
We provide disclosure checks to volunteers at no cost to the organisation. We also process disclosure applications for paid staff working in voluntary organisations.
We play an essential role in the development of the sector, which positively impacts local communities and wider society.
Our role
Disclosure Scotland is the sole funder of Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services (VSDS). We’re awarded a grant administered by Disclosure Scotland under the Scottish Government Education, Communities and Justice Division.
We’re registered with Disclosure Scotland under Part V of the Police Act 1997 and authorised to countersign disclosure applications on behalf of organisations. We’re also bound by the Disclosure Scotland Code of Practice and disclosure legislation

Our teams
We have 3 customer facing teams, Enrolment and Assessment, Customer Operations and Training and Compliance.
Enrolment and Assessment
The Enrolment and Assessment team will talk you through each step of the enrolment process until you are ready to submit your disclosures. They also help you look at your voluntary / paid roles and determine if they require a PVG disclosure. Further information can be found here found here.
Customer Operations
The Customer Operations team review your applications to ensure they are completed with all the required information and will only contact you if an application requires more information. Once satisfied your application gets passed to Disclosure Scotland for final processing. This team will issue your organisation with a certificate, once this process has been completed.
Training and Compliance
The Training and Compliance Team ensure that enrolled organisations are always working to best practice and stay informed of any changes that affect them. We provide training on a range of topics and we also carry out support visits which allow us to review your policies and offer guidance and support. Please contact us for more information.
