The Duke of Edinburgh, a living legacy
12 April 2021
We’d like to mark the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh by recognising his incredible contribution to the voluntary sector and volunteering, where he was patron to more 1,000 charities in his life time.
Arguably the biggest positive impact for volunteering comes in the form of the 6.7 million young people who’ve so far participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, since its inception in 1956. This legacy will grow and live on through the very many lives that have been changed for the better.
As part of their tribute to his life, the Duke of Edinburgh Award are asking anyone who’s been involved in DofE to tell their story.
