Scottish Government expands testing programme to volunteers
28 April 2020
The Scottish Government has expanded its testing programme to now include volunteers within organisations providing support to vulnerable people and communities.

Symptomatic volunteers and their household members can access testing to know whether or not they have the virus. According to the Scottish Government's prioritisation matrix (opens as .pdf) this only applies to those volunteering within organisations providing support to vulnerable people and communities.
The UK government has established a new network of coronavirus testing facilities for key workers. Testing is currently conducted in drive-through sites operating at 4 locations:
- Glasgow Airport
- Edinburgh Airport
- Aberdeen Airport
- University of the Highlands and Islands campus in Inverness
A limited number of home test kits are also available.
Organisations can refer their volunteers for testing or volunteers can self-refer. More information including how to access testing, is available from the Scottish Government website.
