5 November 2014

We recently attended Healthy n Happy’s AGM to present them with their Investing in Volunteers Award (IiV) - and we were impressed.

Healthy n Happy had over 100 people attend, more than they had seats for! This is testament to the hard work the volunteer and staff team put into the event and their commitment to making Cambuslang and Rutherglen better places to live and work.

Brendan Rooney, Executive Director & Jane McArdle, Volunteer Development Worker commented:

"we have a vision, actually we are determined to see Cambuslang and Rutherglen as the healthiest and happiest places to live in Scotland and we really care about improving lives and improving where local people, live work and play.

We are very proudly a community led organisation and we are professional. We're very aware that without involving local people in all aspects of what we do, we wouldn't be able to continue to flourish as we have been; with our volunteers leading the way. The process of achieving Investing in Volunteers Award was rigorous and allowed us the opportunity to reflect on our practices; how we involve volunteers in shaping our every turn, how well we know them, how committed we are to them and how best we serve them.

We are truly delighted that all of our staff and volunteer efforts have been recognised via the Investing in Volunteers award. Thanks to Volunteer Scotland for their support through the process. We would highly recommend it to any organisation that involves volunteers.”

Their assessor was impressed with their commitment to each volunteer and to making sure they get the most out of their time with the organisation. Healthy n Happy provide a variety of opportunities for personal development as well as involving volunteers in every aspect of their organisation.

"good at recognising their contribution and generally a great place to volunteer!"

Volunteers said that they felt the staff really understood how to make sure they have a great experience. They also commented that the staff team were really responsive to their feedback, good at recognising their contribution and it was generally a great place to volunteer!
