About Opportunity

Would you be available to chat to someone on the telephone on a regular basis? Maybe someone in the community who doesn't get out and about which sometime means they can feel lonely and isolated. An opportunity to help elderly, vulnerable lonely people to help themselves. WDCVS Telephone Befriending Service provides a friendly listening ear for people in the West Dunbartonshire area aged over 60. Telephone Befrienders offer friendship in a professional setting providing regular telephone contact to support people with their day to day concerns and reduce their feelings of isolation. Training is provided and ongoing support is available, all Telephone Befrienders will be police checked ( PVG ) for this role The hours are during work hours but flexible and this opportunity is office based. Volunteers make a regular call weekly or fortnightly to their client for a social chat. Telephone Befrienders undergo regular support and supervision meetings to share any concerns they might have about the person they support

Good listening skills, Caring attitude, Empathy for older people, Friendly approach, Flexibility. Must be over 55 due to the project being peer led
