About Fire & Light

Illuminate and energise your New Year celebrations with our Fire & Light outdoor experience. Back for 2018 with brand new elements to discover!

Get wrapped up with friends & family for a walk to take in the night air and explore some spectacular sights.

The 4 kilometre illuminated stroll through The Helix Park will lead you to the Kelpies and back. The route will be animated along the way with installations and performers, from beautiful lanterns to fire breathers and other surprises. All activity is interspersed throughout the park and walks will leave from the Falkirk Stadium every 15 minutes between 5pm - 8pm.

The Helix is an excellent large modern urban green space/park, that hosts a number of large scale events throughout the year. It is home to the Kelpies (two 30 metre high horse head sculptures) a visitors centre, two cafes, an adventure playground, a splash play zone, a lagoon, wetlands and woodlands. This is all interlaced with a full accessible path network. For this event it will also have a temporary volunteer base.

Volunteer Roles

Making people feel welcome, greeting and offering a cheery goodbye. Direct people along the allocated route and towards facilities as and when requested. Ensure we keep the public in the safe designated areas.

Box Office Assistants:
Meet and greet with a little queue management and hand stamping ticket holders.

All volunteers will be required to:

  • familiarize themselves with The Helix, by coming for a walk around the park in your own time, ensuring you take in the main features: Kelpies, Lagoon and boardwalk.
  • complete a registration form
  • attend a briefing on Thursday 21st December either afternoon or evening
  • choose which shifts they would prefer to attend
  • help ensure everyone has the best experience possible
