Our world, in numbers

Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services is as busy as ever checking your application forms, enrolling new organisations and offering training to the voluntary sector.

From our small team of 22 we thought we would give you an example of the numbers we have handled this month as our financial year comes to an end:

Feb 16

  • 4904 unique applications received
  • 23 new organisations enrolled
  • 7 training sessions completed
  • 8 support visits

Feb 17

  • 5722 unique applications received
  • 34 new organisations enrolled
  • 11 training sessions completed
  • 3 support visits

Customer feedback

We pride ourselves on listening to our customers; here are a few things you have shared with us:

Thank you for your support especially over the phone. I'm not comfortable with websites, etc. so it was good to have a human being to speak to

I felt that the support I was given was very good, clear and friendly. I expect to take up the offer of training shortly, I didn't have time to commit at the point of signing up

Very efficient and advisers offer prompt and sound advice when called to ask for assistance

Would like the system:- applications, responses etc. to be online

They've got your number

We receive lots of calls from applicants and organisations asking for PVG numbers. We do not keep a record of applicant’s PVG Scheme Membership numbers.

If an applicant has lost their PVG number they should contact Disclosure Scotland on 0300 020 0040 and select option 4.

Provisional Driving Licence

If you are using a driver’s licence for identification, full or provisional, please provide details from point 5 on the photo card at the following sections:

  • Application to join sections: B 28 – B 30
  • Police Act sections: B 24 – B 26

If you have a middle name on your driver’s licence this has to be included on your application form.

PVG Best Practice Workshop

This year we are introducing a workshop on PVG best practice. This workshop will take place every quarter and will allow you the opportunity to review your existing practices create networking opportunities and learn of other voluntary organisation practices.

Good Practice

We are experiencing an increase in volume of PVG application forms which are being terminated at Disclosure Scotland due to the applicant already being a PVG member. Please be aware when asking a new volunteer to join the PVG scheme that you double check whether or not they are currently a PVG scheme member with another organisation (regardless of workforce) before completing an application to join.

If your applicant is unsure if they are a PVG member or not, they can contact Disclosure Scotland, 0300 020 0040 and select option 4. By carrying out this simple check it will ensure applications are completed at Disclosure Scotland without unnecessary delay.

Applicants Declaration Signature Date

When submitting applications, please ensure that the application declaration signature date, at C2 is within 6 months. We need to ensure that all the information entered on the application is accurate and up to date. If you have any applications which are dated more than 6 months, please ask the applicant to amend and initial the signature date to confirm that the details on the application are still accurate. If the date is amended or unclear, please ask the applicant to initial next to C2.
Please note: Any applications which are dated more than 6 months will be returned to you.

Training

Please remember we offer a suite of PVG training. If you want to refresh your knowledge and understanding, our dates and booking details can be found on our website
