Join the IVMDay 2017 campaign to “Be The Voice!”
5 September 2017
International Volunteer Managers Day happens every year on 5th November and was developed in order to bring recognition to individual Managers of Volunteers and their roles in the mobilisation and support of the world’s volunteers.
The 2017 theme “Be The Voice!” seeks to recognise that Volunteer Managers need to be so much more than just accomplished leaders of people – we need to be change agents and advocates for our volunteers and for volunteering.
We need to make a difference. We need to agitate. We need to advocate.
As we look at global trends, politics and priorities, the need for effective volunteer engagement has never been more important – and while it’s important to celebrate our great profession on IVMDay, we also want to encourage all volunteer leaders to find ways to fight for great volunteering environments, advocate for adequate resources and become effective activists for the profession of volunteer leadership.
So, how can you get involved? Simple:
- Download a ‘pledge sign’ and write down a simple action that you, or a group you are affiliated with will commit to undertake on behalf of volunteer management. Pledge forms + more available here.
- Post your completed form (along with a picture of you if you’d like) on twitter using the hashtag #IVMDay17 and tag @IVMDay and us @VolScotland and we will retweet your pic.
- Share this campaign with other leaders of volunteers as well as any, networks, key people, volunteer centres and VM Associations that you know, so that we can help make this go just a little bit ‘viral’.
We hope you’ll join us!
VS Pledge 1: 'To celebrate the hard work, knowledge and skills of volunteer managers and coordinators across Scotland.'
VS Pledge 2: 'To enable VM's to share learning and promote good practice.'
